Barcelona Sights, Sounds and Hotels
The Barri Gotic is the nucleus of old Barcelona and is a maze of interconnecting streets and squares. The architecture in this early part of Barcelona is mainly 14th and 15th century dating back to the time when Barcelona was at the height of its commercial prosperity. The Placa de Sant Jaume, a wide, open square in the centre of the quarter, is the venue of the weekly dancing of the Sardana , and is the site of a lively market. One of Spain’s greatest Gothic buildings, the Cathedral is located here and remains of the ancients wall that surrounded it can still be seen integrated in prevailing structures.
It will be difficult to miss Barcelona's Barri Gotic during your visit, and you wouldn't want to miss it as you will find much of interest there, as well in other parts of Barcelona city. There are quality Barcelona hotels to be found all over the city.
